Uncertain States is a lens based, artist led project. Publishing a quarterly newspaper we attempt to expand a critical dialogue and promote imagery. We showcase work that reflects some key social and political concerns and challenges how perceptions are formed in society on issues as perse as politics, religion and personal identity. We aim to develop a growing community of independent artists who seek an alternative outlet for their artistic practice. In light of this we are delighted to have the opportunity to create with Rob at The Quarters Caf a permanent base. We are opening ‘Uncertain States Salon’ on Tuesday 6th December 2011, please come along and celebrate with us from 7pm. The Salon will hold regular events including exhibitions, guest speakers, film nights and artists showing current projects. There will always be new work on display to view and to buy! Everyone is welcome. For more information please contact info@uncertainstates.com

SEA Gallery, 70 St. Johns St. EC1M 4DT (closed Saturday and Sunday)
These are dark images. They are also about not being afraid of the dark – even our own mortality. They are about the way that the journey into the world of infinite possibilities for every human being begins and ends in darkness, just as creation itself began in darkness an unlit void. Once we adjust our eyes to the gloom, it becomes full of beauty, captivating mystery and fascinating ambiguity. In the darkness of these photographs, lurks not despair, but rather possibilities and perhaps even hope but no self-delusion.http://www.fionayaronfield.co.uk/artsection/20
